Reports on the decision of a special Australian military court that found "Lieut. Gen. Henry Gordon Bennett, former commander of Australian forces in Malaya, was not justified in relinquishing his command and leaving Singapore after is surrender in 1942." In determining this decision, the commission's presiding justice, Justice Ligertwood, ruled that "Bennett was not a prisoner of war under duty to escape."
