ISHIHARA, Koishiro ([insert Japanese characters]) and OKAWA, Shumei came to my house at 1430 hours. OKAWA returned from NANKING yesterday. In his report, he sympathized with the position of General MATSUI, pointing out the necessity for reorganizing the Army, and deeply felt the necessity for the reduction of troops in CHINA>
9 Feb 38:
ISHIHARA, Koichiro invited NAKAGAWA, Kojuro, OKAWA, Shumei and me to the WAKETOMBO in TSUKIJI at 1200 hours. He gave a report on SHANGHAI.
10 Feb 38:
I was invited by OKAWA to the HYOTEI with HOMMA, Kenichiro and SHIRATORI, Toshio. We had a discussion on Chinese affairs. The conversation lasted from 1800 to 2200 hours.
15 Feb 38:
Gave a speech about SHANGHAI at the girls’ school section of the Women’s Higher Normal School in OTSUKA. The speech began at 1400 hours.
23 Feb 38:
Gave a speech about SHANGHAI at the southern consultation meeting held at MR. MATSUMOTO’s home in HIBIYA. The speech began at 1800 hours. Returned home at 2130 hours.
25 Feb 38:
The triumphal return of General MATSUI.
28 Feb 38:
OKAWA, Shumei; General TATEGAWA; YASUI, Koichiro; ISHIHARA, Koichiro; AMANO, Tatsuo; Colonel YAMASHITA, and twelve others came to my house. After supper, we had a discussion on our country and on leading the people along spiritual ways.
1 Mar 38:
Gave a speech about SHANGHAI at the self-culture meeting held at the RYUDOKEN in AZABU. Seventeen alumni were present at the meeting which lasted from 1800 to 2100 hours.
