A. I do not know. I think no one visited the unit during my service.
Q. Was the Quarantine and Water Supply Section of the Kwan-tung Army included in the general policy of the Kwan-tung Army Special Maneuvers?
A. Yes, it was included in the plan of the Kwan-tung Army. But it was limited only to organization of new quarantine and water supply units for the respective units. I don’t remember how many quarantine and water supply units were formed at that time for the Special Maneuvers of the Kwan-tung Army, and I think these units were formed in each division and army, and needed a large number of personnel. I believe it was done about June of 1941.
Q. Did you read the order or did you hear about it from tohers?
A. I read it myself.
Q. Were personnel who were dispatched to the armies and divisions in charge of only quarantine and water supply in the ISHII Unit or were they engaged in the preparation for and study of bacterial warfare?
A. They were both.
Q. What problems were studied concerning the bacterial warfare preparation of the Kwan-tung Army’s Special Maneuvers.
A. As far as I know, the preparation for a bacterial warfare had nothing to do with the Kwan0tung Army’s Special Maneuvers.
Q. What instructions were given, during this period, concerning the preparation for bacterial warfare?
A. Instructions were given for production and increase of vaccine as well as for more study in this field.
