Report prepared for the Foreign Economic Administration by a member of the staff of the United States Tariff Commission. This study focuses on the role of Sulfur and Sulfuric Acid in Japan's economy. Handwritten note states "Reproduce All. Smith." Entered as Defense Document 500-A-25. Summarizes that "Japan is the principal world producer of pyrites and the third largest producer of sulfur, the two raw materials chiefly used for the manufacture of sulfuric acid." Gives statistics, including tables, on Japan's production, export, and import of sulfur and sulfuric acid. Notes that the two are not related in Japan as they are in the United States.
