Report prepared for the Foreign Economic Administration by a member of the staff of the United States Tariff Commission. This study focuses on
Rice as a commodity and investigates its position in Japan's economy for trade. Stating that "rice is Japan's main food and one of its most valuable products," the report concludes that "Japan may have to depend upon French Indochina and Thailand for an increasing proportion of its imports" given relations with Korea and Formosa."
