Index to Classified Records of the Japanese Foreign Office

Gives report on result of interview with Mr. HAYASHI, chief of the archives section of the Foreign Office, by Mr. Carr. In addition to information given regarding the index of classified records, HAYASHI states that "the record of documents destroyed by fire has been compiled and is in the stage of final checking before publication." Larsh indicates that HAYASHI believes, as does Larsh, that a list of documents sent to various rural areas for safekeeping would have been obtained by the GHQ representatives so Larsh will check with GHQ as well as interrogate INOUE, Kojiro, who was in charge of the Foreign Office archives.
