Report Mikado Seeks to Admit His War Blame [By Wireless to the New York Times and The Chicago Tribune] TOKYO, Feb. 3 – Emperor Hirohito has informed his advisers that he is inclined to issue a public statement admitting his personal responsibility for a share in bringing on the war, but has been dissuaded from immediate action, it was learned yesterday. The emperor’s proposal, it was stated, was made as a result of reports that he wishes to have his actual role reviewed by some form of allied commission. According to Japanese informants, Hirohito has told his advisers that the attempt to shelter him is actually impairing the dignity of the throne in the eyes of both the Japanese and the allied powers.
