Generals Ishida and Uno Enter Sugamo Prison Charged with Beheading POW’s in Southern Regions Two former high-ranking officers of the Japanese army, Lt. Gen. Eikuma Ishida, and Maj. Gen. Misao Uno, head the latest procession of suspected war criminals to enter Sugamo prison to await prosecution, the Legal section of SCAP announced July 26. Beheading and bayonetting of prisoners, and mistreatment of others are charged. Ishida was arrested in connection with atrocities committed on the Burma-Siam railroad, and Uno will face trial in connection with atrocities at Maungdow, Buthiclaung, Burma. Others arrested for war crimes are Col. Mannosuke Saski, Col. Shoichi Koelomatsu, Col. Ichiji Sugita, LT. Col. Yasumori Mori, First Lt. K. Osako, and Lt. (s.g.) Hiroyuki Hayakawa.
