Jap Admiral to Die for Massacre of Nine Marines
GUAM, May 27 (UP) – An American military commission has sentenced Japanese Vice-Adm. Koso Abe to death by hanging in connection with the murder of nine American Marines on Kwajalein during the war, it was announced today.
Two other Japanese officers were sentenced to prison terms for their part in the massacre, Rear Adm. Arthur G. Robinson announced.
Those sentenced were Capt. Yoshio Obara, to 10 years, and Lt. Cmdr. Hisahich Naiki, to 5 years. Testimony at the trial showed the two subordinates acted directly under Abe’s order, Robinson said.
