Japs Will Be Tried on Guam
To Face Charges Where Crimes Were Committed
Approximately 60 Japanese have been returned from Japan to Guam for trial before a United States Military Commission, a Com-Marianas liaison official said yesterday.
Several Japanese already have been tried and sentenced to death for atrocities against Americans on Guam, Truk, the Bonin, Marshall, and Gilbert Islands, it was said.
It was also disclosed that defense lawyers are being furnished by the Japanese Government and witnesses for the defense are being sent to Guam for the trials.
The military commission is composed of Army, Navy, and Marine officers.
