Eugene Williams Added to Keenan’s Law Staff
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Eugene Williams, head of the United States Department of Justice, lands division, has been notified by the war department that he was appointed as special prosecutor for the trial of Hideki Tojo and 19 other Japanese on war criminal charges.
Williams said he would leave by air for Toyo immediately. HE will be under the direction of Joseph B. Keenan, chief counsel.
Japanese General Kono Faces Trial in Manila
MANILA (AP) – Japanese Lt. Gen. Takeshi Kono will be tried by a United States military court here April 15 on charges that he condoned the beheading and burning of 17 United States citizens on Panay island.
The Americans were connected with the Central Philippine College and the Baptist convention.
