Born in 1886; died in 1954. Ambassador to Germany from 1939 until 1941. One of the signers of the Tripartite Pact. Tried to negotiate peace with the United States while Japan was secretly preparing to attack Pearl Harbor. Detained at Hot Springs, Virginia prior to being repatriated on the MS Gripsholm with other Japanese political detainees. |
