SCAP Orders Arrest of Gen. Kumakichi Harada
SCAP has ordered the Japanese government to arrest and deliver to Sugamo prison Lt. Gen. Kumakichi Harada, former commander in chief of the Japanese 16th Army in Java.
Harada was made a lieutenant general in October 1939. He became commander of the 27th Division in March, 1942, and commander in chief of the 16th Army in November 1942. In June 1945, he was transferred to the command of the 5th Army in the Shikoku Military District.
