Manila, May 10 – Four members of the Japanese thought police went on trial yesterday charged with having beaten to death 37 Filipinos whom they had suspended from beams by their thumbs at Aparri in northern Luzon.
They are Captain Takeo Nakamura, Sergeants Yasuzo Naka and Kyoshige Katagiri and Lance Corporal Kansuke Kanoda.
A fifth defendant was excused on grounds of insanity.
