Aides Arrive to Assist at Jap War Crime Trials
Joseph W. Ballantine, special assistant to the secretary of state, and Dr. Brendan Brown, professor of international jurisprudence of Catholic University, Washington, D. C., arrived in Tokyo yesterday to assist the prosecution in the war crimes trials.
Ballantine will be a witness for the prosecution. It was reported that Dr. Brown also would assist the prosecution. Ballantine’s knowledge of the Japanese Government, gained during 30 years service in various consular and diplomatic posts in the Far East, will be of value in the trials, Prosecution Chief Joseph B. Keenan said.
Dr. Brown has been acting dean of the law school at Catholic University since 1942.
Delfin Jaranilla has been named Philippine member of the International Military Tribunal, it was announced.
