‘Who’s Jackson?’ Asks Yamashita at Trial
MANILA, Nov. 20 (AP) – Out of all the languages and dialects – at least ten – used at Lieutenant General Tomoyuki Yamashita’s war crimes trial, the generals ear caught one word which persistently puzzled him.
Today he asked surprised defense counsel, “Who’s this fellow ‘Jackson’?”
Momentarily stumped, defense attorneys figured out that Yamashita had misunderstood their oft-shouted “Objection!”
