General Taken to Shanghai for Arraignment in Doolitte’s Case

Shanghai, February 5 – Lieutenant General Shigeru Sawada, who appointed the court martial that passed the death sentences on three of Lieutenant General James Doolittle’s flyers who were executed in 1942, was brought to Shanghai from Japan today to face a war crimes trial.
Sawada, former commander of the Japanese 13th Army, is the highest ranking officer held in the Doolittle case which is expected to reach the arraignment in two weeks.
