Jap Testifies 14 U. S. Fliers Shot in Formosa
SHANGHAI, July 6 (AP) – Fourteen American fliers captured at Taihoku, Formosa, in 1945 were lined in a trench and shot by a Japanese firing squad, an American military court was told yesterday by Yasushi Marushima, former medical officer and the first eyewitness of the execution to testify.
Marsushima was called to the stand at the war crimes trial of Lt. Gen. Haruki Isayama and seven subordinates accused of condemning the Americans after a mock trial in which no defense counsel was provided.
