Puppet Officials Arrive in Manila to Stand Trial
Manila, July 24 (AP) – Jose P. Laurel, president of the puppet Philippine Republic during the Japanese occupation, arrived here with three colleagues by plane today from Tokyo to face trial in a people’s court.
The others were Benigno Aquino, puppet speaker of the House, Jorge Vargas, puppet ambassador to Japan, and Camilio Osias, puppet minister of education.
Also on the plane was Jose Laurel III, who faces court martial instead of a people’s court trial because he was a Philippines Army officer before the occupation. At the time of arrest in Tokyo he was his father’s aide.
