Death March Survivor Says Former Captives Duty-Bound to Help Convict Criminals
Col. Guy H. Stubbs, a survivor of the Death March of Bataan and 41 months in Japanese prison camps, said here yesterday that Americans liberated from the horrors of prison camp life “owe it to their country, and to the comrades they saw die, to help convict the war criminals responsible.”
“I would like to have at least one good, live eyewitness here to testify on each atrocity,” said Colonel Stubbs, who arrived here several days ago by air from the United States.
“I saw a Jap court sit for half an hour, while six American prisoners of war stood, silent and bound with ropes. Half an hour later, all six were shot for a minor offense.
“Former prisoners will remember as long as they live, the faces of the inhuman killers of men in those camps. Most prisoners of war have forgotten the names of even the worst criminals, if they ever knew them, but when you se
