Gives an overview, including structure and content, of 37 Special Study Analyses prepared by a member of the staff of the U. S. Tariff Commission for Foreign Economic Administration. The studies cover the time period from 1928 - 1939. Notes that "a substantial portion of each study is directed to post war problems and the unemployment problem which it is anticipated will arise in Japan from the cutting back of production at the close of the war and the effect of the prohibition of the import or export of the article on the future economic development of Japan." William Logan did not anticipate introducing these case studies into evidence.

Doc. 4033 - Telegrams from WOERMANN and OTT

Description: 
Secret Telegram in Cipher. In the first telegram, from Woermann , discusses the series of events that occurred just after "present conclusion of a non-aggression pact." At a midnight meeting, OSHIMA presented his objections to the current normalization of relations between Germany and the Soviet Union in light of the possible adverse effects this would have on relations between Japan and the Soviet Union. Woermann reaffirmed Germany's commitment to Japan. In the second telegram, Ott discusses his conversations with SHIRATORI regarding a possible non-aggression pact between Japan-Russia that could lead to active cooperation between Germany-Japan-Russia-Italy.
