JAP WHO SLAPPED TOJO CURED; WILL FACE TRIAL AGAIN
Shumei Okawa, who created a furor at the International Tribunal in Tokyo by twice slapping Hideki Tojo’s bald head, has regained his composure and will stand trial again with his 26 colleagues, reports Kyodo press.
Placed under the custody of his physician after the erratic courtroom display of behavior, the one-time Tojo “brain truster” was recently transferred to the Matsuzawa Mental Hospital for convalescence.
Okawa was found to be almost “normal” again, no longer mumbling foreign phrases as he did while at the Imperial University Hospital.
The ex “brain-truster” now exhibits a strong taste for heavy reading in the natural sciences.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Allied authorities have ordered a new physical and mental examination of Okawa.
