MEMORANDUM
TO: Associate Prosecutors and Assistant Counsel
FROM: The Chief of Counsel
I.I have reported to General MacArthur the progress of this case to date. He was informed of the various phases and, of course, the length of time consumed in presenting the same on behalf of the prosecution. He reiterated his initial advice that the efficacy of this proceeding concerned the matter of time as well as a fair and adequate presentation.
I reported to him that as of this date the evidence concerning the A classification crimes had been substantially completed with the exception of the phase having to do with relations between Japan and the Netherlands which I expected would be presented (with interim witnesses of Class B and C crimes) on Monday of the coming week and that it was expected that the Netherlands case would be completed within a week.
