Tavenner encloses a letter to Carpenter "from a member of the staff of the Kawasakis Heavy Industries, Kobe, for such value as it may have." Letter from R. YOSHIKAWA that is enclosed discusses the Purge Ordinance and M. ITANI's actions during the war that would lead him to be classified as a war criminal. States "We notice in today's paper that chief prosecutor Keenan is reportedly going to prosecute top-notch Japanese wawr industrial collaborators as war criminals. If there is ever a man qualified for this clas of people, our ex-president Mr. Itani must come first in priority to anybody else because it is a well known fact that he was the man who directly or indirectly approached the notorious Tojo to get Tojo's brother as the head of the Kawasaki's aearoplane works at Gifu, evidently to curry the favour of hte then all supreme Tojo with whom our Mr. Itani was naturally very closely connected for war industrial activities such as warships, aearoplane carriers, submarines and aircraft construction etc. both for the Army and Navy."
