Maxon informs Tavenner that a "Subject book published recently by Alfred A. Knopf," written by Masuo KATO, "reportedly the only newspaperman on board the MISSOURI at the time of surrender," has been loaned. Maxon suggests that some copies should be made because it is probably an important book. Tavenner responds on the same day with "Please furnish me with the exact title of the book and the name of the publisher when you obtain your copy so that requests may be made of War Crimes for copies."
