Sworn deposition of YAMAMOTO, Kumaichi that gives his background as well as his actions during the war as the Director of the East-Asiatic Department of the Foreign Office. Discusses his knowledge of the important telegrams sent from Ambassador OSHIMA to the Foreign Office. Specifically mentions the fact that "after the outbreak of the German Russian War several reports arrived from Ambassador OSHIMA to the effect that Germany was desirous of a Japanese attack on Soviet Russia." YAMAMOTO does not recall that OSHIMA "ever advocated as his personal opinion such an attack."
