During the trial, Araki was represented by American Associate Counsel Lawrence J. McManus. His Japanese Chief Counsel was Yutaka Sugarawa. His Japanese Associate Counsel changed three times between Sakae Ichikawa, Takaaki Hasuoka, and Jiro Tokuoka. Found guilty of counts 1 and 27, Araki was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was paroled in 1955. |
